Since Oct 2007 - Both Phoebe and Trooper are in their new homes in the Scottish Borders...Oct 2007 Phoebe and Trooper were in kennels in Leitrim, Eire until we arranged their transfer over here and had a home awaiting them... so on  10th Oct - These two turned up at Knutsford Motorway Services at 02:00am via the Irish Pet Rescue at Leitrim - they were met by Shirley who drove down from the Eastern Scottish Borders - both now are marvelling just what doggy paradise is - and are settling in together (whilst they were at Leitrim they were sharing the same kennel, and have bonded very well) Phoebe is very nervous, but with the help of Trooper and Shirley she will soon get confident...   both do not recognise their new names so they might be called something else - it is unfortunate that these lovely dogs are discarded so easily in Eire !!  - ... 8th October 2007 - Irish Gsp’s “Trooper” - Neut male about 2 years old Trooper Mand “Phoebe” - entire bitch also about 2 years or maybe a tad older than Trooper - she is very nervous ... so needs lots of TLC

Phoebe 1
Both are being fostered in Eire at this time... pointerman@lineone.net

GOOD NEWS INDEED - “Rudy” has been taken home (for ever) by one of the girls working at his kennels........

27 November - “RUDY” - an 11 year old Neutered Male in Kettering, Northants -
CIMG0096
very experienced working dog with excellent nose but now affected by arthritis... Ok with bitches but not too good with male dogs - hates cats...

fine with livestock... owner is terminally ill and Rudy is currently in Kennels... if anyone
CIMG0095
can find a niche in their home for this old lad for his final years, it would be good..

28th August - Update - Trooper” rehomed and settled in well with new owners in North Somerset... 20th August - Trooper - 3 year old Castrated Male (not too large) - Living near Cullompton, Devon - owners emigrating... mid September - therefore needs to re-home this fella shortly... he lives indoors - very energetic (aren’t they all) - nice temperament and kids with the Children. - no experience with cats - owner keeps Chickens but Trooper is always kept away from that area

24-8-98 - Boris was found loose in the town of Axminster by the local Dog Warden - he had a bit of bailer twine or rope around his neck which appeared to have been chewed thru.   We think he may have been abandoned by some didecoys.   He was taken to the local boarding kennels and I was informed.   Now called ‘Bekka’ - he lives near Worcester and is very well.

Early June 2005 - ‘Winston’ died....... it was on 23-07-02 - Winston - from Colne in Lancashire to Tyne ‘n Wear. - update 17th August 2004 - how Winston suffered..... text from Ann :::  Thought that you would be interested to know that Winston got through his operation and we got him home today. They have taken a piece of bone from his shoulder to patch up that wrist joint and have actually fused the joint and put a plate in. Apparently the fracture was an old one, evidenced by the smooth edges according to the orthopaedic vet. When the chap brought Winston to me he said that he went lame on the left shoulder sometimes after exercise and just to give him a parceatomol. Of course I took him to the vet and he has been on tablets for an arthritic joint i.e shoulder joint. The orthopeadic vet said that the shoulder is sound and the trouble was from the wrist and untreated fracture. It was not until the joint started to become deformed with more frequent lameness that this was discovered. I think that his back problems have probably stemmed from trying to cope with this joint. Poor Winston what pain he must have suffered when the joint was fractured and not treated and I feel slightly guilty that he became generally so fit that he wanted to run across the fields despite the joint, although he was rested when he became lame.
He now sports an enormous bandage but hopefully this will be replaced by a cast in ten days. The prognosis is good with this vet having a 98% success rate. He will run again pain and limp free in about ten to twelve weeks. Until then its masses of TLC and nursing.
I wish we were nearer and could come to your show. It sounds very well organised to me. Hope it goes well.
Kind regards
Ann

Dec 19th 2004 - “Badger”  now settled in his new home in North Devon..... it was on November 29th - “Badger” - a 14 month old Castrated Male Gsp is looking for a new home - living with two children of 8 and 11 yrs - the cat sleeps with him in his bed; he’s clean but needs further training - he has met most farm animals without problems - location Wiltshire - on Dec 7th - a bit more info on Badger - he is a beautiful GSP with very good breeding. Very bouncy, is housed in a separate building to the family home and it is extremely warm and comfortable but he is not used to living as part of a family at all. He runs off and is not at all well trained, but the little time I had with him he will respond beautifully to training. He is kept contained by electric fencing and a collar, but apparently can escape through this!! He is sociable and gregarious and got on well with my GSP. He has also been known to run off when off the lead.  He is a superb dog to take on...

Fine with cats, chickens, cattle, sheep - she is biddable but a bit wingy when left alone - needs company and retraining on the domestic side - location Wrantage - if you think you can handle this one, and give her the life of old o’ Reilly and be able to handle her idiosyncrasies, and if you have had a Gsp before...ring Sue Pitman on (01243) 545990 or  pointerman@lineone.net .

March - “Holly” Rehomed --- ‘twas on the 18th March - “Holly” in Eire - she pretty much looks like a Gspholly 0305 - here’s some text from Loudi over in the Emerald Isle.....”Meet Holly, doing what she does best:sit infront of a fire!
Holly was surrendered into a pound for snapping at a child.I don't know if its true, what the child did etc.,but for this reason she is looking for a family without young children.
She doesn't ask for much-a warm, comfortable place to sleep,a stroll outside if you insist, bit of food...Holly is fully housetrained and can be left alone for a few hours if needed. She takes no notice of other dogs, don't know how she is with cats but it is hard to imagine her chasing anything at all.So anybody who wants an easy, affectionate, quiet pet-this is your girl!  - pointerman@lineone.net

9th April - “Phoebe rehomed  to the Wirral” - 1st April, 2005 - currently in Leitrim, Eire - “PHOEBE” is a year old female Pointer. phoebe   She was underweight when she first came to us but is now putting on weight and will soon be ready for rehoming. She has a lovely temperament and we are looking for a home where she will receive the love and attention she has been lacking so far in her short life. Phoebe is vaccinated and wormed and will be neutered before she is rehomed. - she is booked to come over to the UK this Friday 5th April - so an URGENT decision and committment is requested if you want to be considered for this little girl - bear in mind that ALL Irish Gsp’s that come over here have to be taken “as is” and after a rendezvous with Debs (she organises the transport side of things) you have to take these dogs home with YOU - and later, if you find that they are not settling in with you, you must look after them and care for them until another suitable home is located.  -   email me please to pointerman@lineone.net

9th April - “Sam” rehomed to the Isle of Wight...   2nd April ‘05 - “Samuel” - a six year old solid liver (neutered) lad samportrait02currently being fostered in Havant, Hants - He came from a home that had children and he has been OK with the kids around here allowing them to stroke him. He is OK with our two Lab bitches. You can read more about him on

www.dogpages.org.uk http://www.dogpages.org.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=63651 - and follow the enquiry through that way if you can find a place for this lad in your home - he needs to go where there aren’t any other male dogs. 26th April - “Coco” is now rehomed  - 24th April - pictures of Coco and comments (by Derek D) : I have been to see Coco today, (now with a Foster home in Buckhaven in Fife, 25 N/E of Edinburgh) no problems with her, a really good girl, settled right away and slept all night. After further inspection of her left rear foot found a small cut on her pad which was clean and should heal ok. I was greeted when I went into the house with kisses and cuddles and a full face wash and ear nibbles, she will definitely make someone a fantastic pet. Tends to bark a lot when she is excited, does not know when to stop, this seems to be her only fault if that is a fault, will require training on the lead, she is very strong pulls vigorously. I am no expert, only my findings. She will settle in well with any one who can be with her most, if not all of the timeCOCO 00402

22nd April - “Coco” in Glasgow has re-appeared - she was offered to Rescue on 9th April - but then re-homed by the owner - the new keeper is unable to keep her because of her barking (neighbours complaining) - the new owner is leaving her 7 hours a day - so - if you don’t work anything like 7 hours a day - could you settle her down - she’s great with children - cats - fine with other dogs and all people. She is five years old and still entire. - She is excitable in the car on an outward journey but quiet on the way back... Clean in the house and non distructive... pointerman@lineone.net is the way to go.........

No pedigree nor KC Reg. come with her - and she must be speyed within 6 months (and proven with a vet. note) - are YOU the new master of Mischa - - Tell me on pointerman@lineone.net

5th May - Trigger to be re-homed at the Dogs Trust at Evesham...   24th April - Trigger went to Crawley Down, West Sussex but he was found to be too apprehensive of the little people (the children) so rather than risk it further, Sarah has temp. volunteered to foster him in Leicestershire - we were totally spoofed by the Irish as they described him as a failed Gsp Gundog - here’s his picture.Trigger with Bone02and I wonder which part of his best describes the Gsp in him !!  trig 2-  previously . on 11th April - Trigger in Tipperary enroute Uk this Friday 22nd - home allocated -it was 11th February, 2005 - a 2 year old entire male liver and white Gsp currently in Eire - good with children - Ok with other dogs - called “Trigger - he’s a failed gundog (wants to do his own thing - ie: hasn’t been trained too well for Gundog work) -Still in North Tipperary (Eire) (14th March) and safe at the moment - will be brought over as and when - . 12 July - “Osca” has been accepted for further training by the Gloucestershire Police - 29 June - “Osca” in Gloster (Gloucestershire) - a One year old L/W entire male needs a better life - both parents working nowadays - two children and not enough time for ‘Osca’ - Great with children - Insured - KCR - Vacc. Clean and crate trained. Not good with cats - Ignores sheep and bovines - pointerman@lineone.net for this lad.

6th July - Rolo Re-homed ...  it was the 27th June - ”Rolo” a two year old Gsp-x-Ess bitch (unspeyed) with a long tail is available in Norfolk - apparently looks like a Gsp (!) - .The current owner types : “Work commitment have over the last couple of months have prevented Rolo going to work with my partner. We both work full-time and Ben is no longer able to take her to work with him. Rolo is fantastic when she is with us but during the day when we leave her in her run she hates it - she is constantly barking (hence the neighbours are now complaining). We have tried her inside too. We dont think Rolo deserves to be shut in her run or left on her own all day indefinately from 7.30am to 5.30pm. We would really like her to go with a family who can give her the time which we have failed to give her due to work, Rolo deserves a better life than being on her own for long periods of time until we get home. She is a lovely affectionate dog and the hardest thing for us to do is having to rehome her but we have to think about what’s best for her and not us. She is still very young dog and has lots more years to get the love and attention she needs. She just loves being with people. Rolo isn’t cut out for the outside dog she needs to be in a home with all the creature comforts with especially people.   Rolo is great with children and other dogs. Cattle - we take her down the marsh were she will walk to heel - not interested in them. Cats - now what dogs like cats!! Not good with chickens. House trained (left in kitchen and conservatory) but when she is in the house I don’t leave her all day - my mum comes and lets her out at midday so she is only used to being left for about 4hrs (5 hours maximum). Rolo at the minute is an outside dog. In the kennel and run during the day and slept outside but when we got home she is with us - is taken down the marsh for 1hr/1.5hrs walks everyday. She is used to having another dog with her but I think as long as she is getting the attention I dont think she will be bothered.”” interested ? - telephone Gilly B. (Eastern Gsp Rescue) on 01692 500580
